This Harris HF-1 linear amplifier is mated with a classic Collins KWM-2A for a roll-around, complete, all-band HF SSB/CW station. The HF-1 runs a 4CX1000A  as a final amplifier for a cool 1600 watts of single-tone output power and provides continuous frequency coverage from 2 to 30 MHz.

Another view of the Harris/Collins station combo. The rack holding the two units is marked 'Philco' and was part of a DoD special project.  One of the circular grills in the top panel hides an 8-inch speaker while the other serves as an exhuast vent for the HF-1 amplifier. The robust HF-1 power supply is mounted in the lower part of the rack.

W8QBG recently acquired 2-BC610 and 2-T368 transmitters from an estate sale.  Those units are being refurbished in the W8QBG depot maintenance facility (aka Studio B, aka George's garage).  BC-610 E and I models are at right, T-368 #1 at center.

This is T-368 #1 with  its RF Deck pulled for cleaning and circuit checks. In spite of being stored in a open carport for 20 years, the internal circuitry is in fairly good shape.

T-368 #1, rear view, showing the modulator and power-supply decks.  Clearly seen here are the 4-125 modulators and the 3B28  HV rectifiers.

This E-model BC-610  was part of the deal.  It, and its brethren I-model, were stored in an enclosed unit and are in good shape.  This transmitter returned to the air after only minor repairs.

T-368 #2 awaiting refurbishment.  The engine hoist at right is a necessity when dealing with weighty boat-anchors such as this.

Another view of T-368 #2 clearly showing the effects of outside storage.  As with #1, the corrosion is limited to the outside of the case and panels.

Ultrasonic arc detector used by W8QBG to locate malfunctioning insulators on the power lines surrounding his property. The 40 kHz audio arc noise is  received by the microphone, heterodyned down to the audible range and amplified while the 'bowl' provides the necessary directionality.
