IT WAS THE WEEK THAT WASN'T

President Trump was backed by two Republican Senators, David Perdue of Georgia and Tom Cotton of Arkansas in denying Trump used that hyphenated obscenity when referring to African countries and Haiti in front of a room full of Senators, Representatives and reporters. I heard it quite clearly several times over my TV and my hearing isn't nearly as good as it used to be. Senator Dick Durbin (Democrat-Illinois), who was sitting next to the President, said there was no doubt that Trump made the "vile remark."

The last time I read about a president cursing was when the Supreme Court forced Nixon to turn over the tapes made in the oval office following the Watergate affair. Those recordings, more than anything else, brought an ignominious end to a checkered career.

Not that a potty mouth remark makes any difference to the many Trump fans. On January 24rd, 2016, in a rally in Sioux City Iowa, candidate Trump made what I thought the outrageous claim, "That he was so popular he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and he wouldn't lose any votes." I have to accept that is his idea of a jest, but I'm getting close to verifying that it is a certifiable fact, irrespective of the clean bill of physical and mental health provided by the Surgeon General. There is no truth to the fake news story that the head of physical resources at the White House has been ordered to install a revolving door to the oval office in order to accommodate the constant turnover.

Let me suggest one who earned the position as Number One Water Carrier for the President: Boy, did Kellyanne Conway clean Andrew Cuomo's clock during his highly touted "interview" of her on CNN last week. She succeeded in avoiding answering every question he put to her. The producer at CNN should have thrown in a towel during the first commercial break. It was painful to watch; nothing short of elder abuse; like watching someone being locked in a cage with a starving alligator. I'll bet Cuomo never invites her back for a rematch!

It was a rollercoaster ride for 800,000 "Dreamers" last week. First off, Trump challenged the Democrat and Representative party members who were sitting around a huge conference table, to come up with an immigration "Bill of Love," but by week's end admitted that he was holding the young people's futures hostage until he gets the billions needed to build his fence along the Mexican border.

Whatever happened to his promise that he would make Mexico pay for it? Huh?

Then the cap-off, actually a button-on that set off a panic in Hawaii. It staggered my mind when I learned it was so easy to set off a media alert that the 50th State was soon to be struck by North Korean missiles. Entrepreneurs are bound to soon once again begin offering bomb shelters to suckers, who should be informed that survivors who make it through any such attack will eventually have to come out for a short existence in a radiation-poisoned environment.
