REAL NEWS AND FAKE NEWS-Part II

"Seward's Folly," also called "Billy's Icebox" (Cold), referring at the time to the scandalous purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867 for $7.2-million ($90-mil in today's money) promoted by Secretary of State William Seward and much opposed by newspapers of both Republican and Democratic Party persuasions, turned out to be a pretty good investment. (Smart)

On her failed attempt to fly around the World in 1937, Aviator Amelia Earhart was not captured and imprisoned by the Japanese—or anyone else—on some remote island in the Pacific. My personal belief is that her bones, that of her engineer and her airplane have long since moldered in some Pacific Ocean deep. (Sad)

President Roosevelt did not purposely ignore reports of the Japanese armada bearing down on Hawaii in 1941, inviting the carnage as an excuse for the U.S. to enter WWII. (Nutty)

Despite being widely questioned at the time by fellow travelers in the USA, it has been firmly established that American citizens Julius and Ethel Greenglass Rosenberg were principals in a Soviet spy apparatus that stole the detailed formulas for nuclear weapons and provided them to Russia—and were executed for the treasonous act. Records unearthed in KGB files since the collapse of the USSR verify their duplicity. (Bad people)

Incredible, yet Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in assassinating President Kennedy. He may have acquired funding from Fidel Castro, for he did visit the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City only days before. As of yet, the Cuban connection has not been corroborated. At the time, rumor mongers and a movie producer spread fake news that either or both Lyndon Johnson and/or J. Edgar Hoover were implicated in the shooting. (Skitzo)

Why this discourse? Because Tweeter-in-Chief Trump has accused President #44, Obama, of bugging President #45's phone lines in Trump Tower—the first and only time a President has accused his predecessor of perpetrating a crime. According to Bloomberg News, President Trump got the info from alternative news source Brietbart News, headed recently by Trump's Senior Advisor, Stephan Bannon. (On a treadmill to oblivion)

Brietbart may have gotten the lead from Mark Levin or Alex Jones, both of whom are radio rabble rousers and well known conspiracy theorists credited with such items as suggesting that the Federal Government is guilty of being implicated in the Oklahoma City bombing and the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school. Jones insists that the moon landings never happened, but were faked by the CIA to hide NASA's secret spy technology. Come-on folks, this is sheer lunacy. Do you really believe that the CIA, FBI or any intelligence service is using our microwave ovens for surveillance? Maybe our smart TVs, especially those made right here in China...but only when we watch re-runs of MASH. Keep that in mind whenever you are prompted to share a romantic interlude with your spouse. Better watch out for a black panel truck with dark film over all of its windows, parked down the street, first. (Oops)
