MEET ROBERT MERCER

Most folks who follow politics recognize the names of two of the Koch Brothers, Charles and David, because they bought out their two siblings' interests in the world's second most valuable privately owned business, Koch Industries—founded by their father—but more so for their interest in right wing and libertarian candidates and causes.  Between 2009 and 2016, Charles and David Koch pledged to contribute $869-million to right-wing political candidates and to support such things like the lobby that wishes to expand opposition to more funding for governmental health care and efforts to slow down global warming, something that many like the Kochs believe is a left-wing myth that harms business.

According to Jane Mayer, author of a new book, "Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right," the Brothers Koch don't count for much, when compared to the determination of a reclusive, 70 year old genius investor by the name of Robert Leroy Mercer, who can call upon as much as 25 billion dollars worth of assets.  According to International Investors Alpha, Mercer earned a hundred and thirty-five million dollars in 2015, alone.

He is the major supporter of the "Make America Number 1 SuperPAC" and Breitbart News. It is only through his ability to connect the dots that Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway are seen almost daily at the White House. I learned his name one week ago. According to Ms. Mercer, he has never been interviewed by the media. Sooner or later we will learn more about him. A lot more.
