 U.S. MILITARY VS. EBOLA

(But first)

Shocking new revelations come this morning of the lack of proper protocols at Texas "Health" hospital in Dallas. Nurses blow the whistle on the cover-up of extreme negligence surrounding the second and final admittance of the now deceased Liberian victim: his being left with other patients for hours, the resistance by hospital supervisors to his being moved to isolation, staff going in an out of the "isolation" ward without proper protective clothing and an ever-expanding group of over 100 individuals being checked hourly for possible infection—causing the head of the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Tom (Prozac) Frieden, he of the calm demeanor, to sound more and more like Edward J. Smith, Captain of HMS Titanic, with each passing hour. "I should have ordered the lifeboats to be launched" or "I wish I had sent the special infectious disease team to Dallas without delay."

Hours ago, it was revealed that the second nurse to be diagnosed with Ebola after treating the late Thomas Eric Duncan went home to Ohio this past weekend by commercial jet after caring for the deceased Liberian, and was running an elevated temperature when she boarded an airliner in Cleveland and returned to Dallas this past Monday. CDC is now unable to immediately declare the number of persons now at risk, who were on the two commercial jets, as well as family and friends exposed by what is reported to have been a planning party for the her wedding.

Spokespersons at CDC and the hospital agree  that Amber Joy Vinson "should not have boarded the aircraft."

Investigation of this travesty and immediate separation of hospital incompetents, (hopefully) to be continued. The Nation is not reassured after learning that the inmates are running the asylum.

(In the meantime)

This week, Senator James, Inhofe of Oklahoma, Ranking Member of the Senate Army Services Committee, asked his constituents to respond to questions he raised concerning the use of U.S. military in Africa in an effort to contain a further outbreak of the Ebola — the core question being: "In light of the the unprecedented outbreak of Ebola, with cases now being reported in the United States and Europe, do you believe the U.S. military resources - to include equipment, supplies and service members, should be allocated towards assisting with the international responses to abate the Ebola outbreak?"

Senator Inhofe went on to say, "I have put serious consideration into the President's reprogramming request and have given my approval for the administration to spend only a small fraction of that money to begin assisting West Africa. But, I also have serious questions that the President needs to answer before I can completely sign-off on the mission.

Before the Administration can access the full funds it has requested from the DOD (Department of Defense), I have demanded that the Administration answer to basic questions:

1) What is the plan to protect our service members from contracting Ebola; and

2) What is the strategy for transferring this likely long-term mission back to the appropriate governmental agencies, like the state department, as well as non-governmental organizations?

My goal is to ensure that any further DOD funds being used towards the Ebola crises is not only in the best interest of West Africa, but also our military members and their families. Too many unknowns remain about this lethal virus, and we must ensure that the health of all concerned is being considered."

Well said, Senator.

We've one thing to add: Who and what will also ensure that the funds will not be diverted by corrupt African officials?
